  1. Short:    v2.5a AmigaDos Version replacement.

  6. VersionWB is a replacement for the usual AmigaDos Version command,
  7. which now uses XfdMaster.library if available.
  8.  
  9. If you want the version information to be presented in
  10. a requester, this program is for you. Instead of
  11. like c:version just tell the version and revision number
  12. by default, VersionWB always tells you all it could find.
  13.  
  14. VersionWB have these features:
  15.  
  16. * It will bring up a requester with the version information.
  17.  
  18. * It support several files in the command line parameter template.
  19.  
  20. * You can shift-doubleclick an icon with VersionWB and
  21.   then get all that version stuff.
  22.  
  23. * You may also pick the file you want to know the version number of
  24.   by using a file requester.
  25.  
  26. * It will find version strings in WB1.3 libraries and devices,
  27.   c:version does not, e.g. narrator.device.
  28.  
  29. * If you use it with ToolManager you can have an appicon in
  30.   your Workbench. Drop the icon on the appicon, and the
  31.   version information will be presented (if the file contains a
  32.   version string :-)

  34. * It also has an optional text output.
  35.  
  36. * It recognizes any packed file (uses xfdmaster.library).
  37.  
  38. * All other features of AmigaDos Version, as far as I know 8-).

  48. NEW: optimization ... Uses D3-D7 insteed of USP.
  49. NEW: Tells you if a file is resident in memory.

  51.      and one for instance do a VersionWB asl.library,
  52.      one get the versioninfo of the file, and the resident
  53.      one some lines below.
  54. BUGFIX: Imploded files were processed to many times.

  57. NEW: Uses XfdMaster.library which means it can recognize
  58.      and decrunch almost any file.

  60. NEW: It tells you which packer the file is packed with.
  61.      When the file is packed it have to be loaded entirely into
  62.      memory, in difference to normal files which is loaded in 10kB
  63.      or 16 kB blocks.
  64. BUGFIX: Not all library-alike files was recognized as such,
  65.      and the version info could only be found with 'smart version
  66.      string search'.
  67. BUGFIX: Version of devices did not work since v. 2.2.

  77. BUGFIX: An empty requester was showed if no version info could be
  78.         found in a resident file.
  79. BUGFIX: If a library-ID-string contain just the library name, versionwb
  80.         will carry on searching for the $VER-string. The ID-String should
  81.         point to string with library name and version and date ...

  84. V.2.4a (17.03.97) PUBLIC UPDATE

  86. BUGFIX: Error messages was not showed. Instead "no version info could be found"
  87.         was showed. :-(

  91. BUGFIX: Bug fixed in v.2.3a was not properly fixed. Some files caused
  92.         versionwb and the Amiga to crash very hard, because of memory
  93.         trashing. This bug was very hard to find, because I was not
  94.         aware of it. I use the MCP(by AlienDesign)-patch CopyMemQuick,
  95.         and everyone who also do so shouldn't have had any crash like
  96.         this (caused by versionwb).

  101. BUGFIX: Bug tried to fix in VersionWB 2.4 and 2.4a was back in 2.5! (empty
  102.         requester or no requester at all) Aaarghh!
  103. BUGFIX: No all requesters were showed on the screen, given by PUBLICSCREEN argument.
